"But you'll also pay for that."
Those were his last words he saids before storming out from there.
Zia and Mayra were confused about the situation.
Zia decided to ask Rian but then saw Mayra looking very distressed. She took Mayra's hand and led her to her room, instructing her to change clothes.
Once Mayra had changed, Zia cupped her face and saw the tears rolling down her cheeks.
"Mayra, are you sure nobody hurt you?" She asked her again because her heart was throbbing by the thought of that.
"No...th-they were going to hurt me but Ri-Rian saved me."
She got stunned hearing this. If he saved her then why Ved was so outrageous on him?
She was going to say something but then they heard someone coming inside. They turned to find none other than Ved. By his face, it seemed that his anger had somewhat faded but not completely.
He came towards Mayra and made her sit on the bed and himself sat next to her. He looked towards Zia who was looking at both of them intently and it was clear from his eyes what he wanted to ask.
"She's fine Ved, it's grateful that Rian saved her or else..." She took a deep breathe, because the mere thought of what could have happened was miserable.
He looked towards Mayra who had stopped shedding tears, because she knew how much it could cause pain to them. So she was hardly controlling her tears.
He hugged her tightly and detatching from her, he smiled a little palming her face. Only he knew how hard it was to smile for her because from inside his heart was numb. But for her, he hid that pain on his face.
But Mayra understood that his uncle Ved was hiding his pain just for her.
"Don't worry muffin, nothing will happen to you ever again. I promise you." He said consoling her and looked towards Zia.
Meanwhile on the flip side, Rian's happiness was palpable. He spilled the beans to his friends about what happened and that his father had finally agreed to throw that little sack of trash away from their home. He shrugged off the worry about punishment because according to him, whatever will the punishment, atleast he could endure a little if he had been lugging that heavy sack of trash since four fucking years.
He came out of his room and headed to go downstairs because it was time for dinner while talking to Dhruv on his phone.
"I'll throw a party after she'll be thrown out of our house."
Dhruv laughed while saying from the other side "You're seriously insane Rian!"
Rian was just about to say something when he heard his parents' voices coming from Mayra's room. Curious, he tiptoed closer to listen in.
"Prepare for dinner Zia, because your loving son won't be able to savor your delicous food from tomorrow."
Zia and especially Rian became astounded comprehending his words.
"Hello....hello? Are you listening to me bastard?" Dhruv spoke from the other side but Rian's full attention was now somewhere else.
"Wh-What do you mean?" Zia asked stunned.
"You'll know very soon. I have taken a big decision and i hope you'll not take your son's side this time." He said in a bit vexed voice.
"But what he have done Ved? He saved Mayra from such a terrible situation! Why are you hell-bent to punish him?" This time her voice was loud. She was totally aghast and bothered.
"And what if i tell you that he's the one, who pushed Mayra in that terrible situation?"
Mayra as well as Zia's eyes widened in shock.
"Yes Zia, your son had paid those kidnappers to kidnap her and sell her to a brothel."
Zia's heart froze. "NO....i can't belive this. He can never do this i know."
"If he had done this all then why would he save her?" She added.
Ved falsely chucked "You're so innocent, mi vida. He's way smarter than you think. When he came to know that i had found out the truth, he hatched a plan to save her and be the hero."
Rian clenched his jaw in anger, because his intention to save her was never what his father was accusing him of. He even didn't know that she was sent to a brothel and after he knew he made his every might possible to save her from those monsters.
But the thing was; his own father don't believe him.
He felt an intense rage burning inside him. He quickly came inside the room losing his temper, turning everyone startled.
"Let me tell you that i was not the one who told the kidnapper to send her to a fucking brothel." He uttered, his jaw was tightly clenched and he was looking deadly.
"And what makes you think that i will believe you?" Ved asked sternly. Rian felt a sharp pain inside his heart but he didn't let it out on his face.
"Well that's up to you." He replied in a low voice.
"Even if i believe that you didn't tell him to sell her to a brothel, you can't deny the fact that you're the one who told him to kidnap her."
Ved added "Even after knowing how cruel is this world, you were sending her away from our shelter, knowing that anyone could...." He stopped himself from continuing because he was feeling ashamed to even utter those words.
"And yes, i have decided to send her away from here because till you're here, she's not going to be safe here." He declared and turned his head towarsds mayra.
"I never want to send her away even if I have to send you away from my house, but I'm convinced that you'll still not hold back from harming her. So for her safety, i have to do this and not because you hate her." He declared, while his heart was throbbing from inside by the thought of sending her away.
"No Ved please, you can't do this." Zia came in between and her eyes were glistening with anguish.
"I have to do this, vida. There's no option other than this. They need to be get separated because his cruel intentions for her have taken a tremendous form and after what happened today i can't risk her life. I'm helpless, Zia." He took a deep breathe. Pain was visible in his eyes. Zia could not say anything, she herself knew he was right.
Mayra, in all this was trying hard to control her tears. She knew he had decided this for her sake but it was hard for her to even imagine being away from them.
"And rest about your punishment, so this time Rian Mehrotra, you have comitted a Sin. And your punishment is going to be hard for comitting a Sin and separating Mayra from us." Everyone was astounded hearing him because his facial expressions were proof that it was now going really serious.
"I'll myself handle you to the cops and put you behind bars."
Rian's heartbeat dropped hearing this.
"What the hell are you saying Ved?" Zia shouted, totally aghast.
"I know Zia, I'm myself not a saint, i have comitted thousands of crimes but he just lowered my head in shame by doing this much cruel act, which will send shivers to anyone who will even think about this. Selling an innocent little girl to a brothel...i can't even imagine! He needs strict punishment and that's why i have decided to send him to prison, atleast for a short time. I never thought that he would become this heartless that he would not think twice before hurting a little girl in such a terrible way."
Rian dug his nails in his palm. His father don't believe him now and that's only because of that girl sitting infront of him. He's sending him to prison for a crime he had not even committed. He's doesn't believe that his intentions for saving her were truly pure.
"I will send her to a different country to study there, because i will not risk her life. Atleast for now, i have to do this. Tomorrow, he'll get his punishment and Zia please don't come in between us this time." He said further.
Rian looked at his mother in a hopeful way, because Ved loves Zia very much and if she will request him then he'll definitely listen to her, but opposite to what he thought she lowered her gaze, helplessly. She knew Ved was right and what their son did is extremely wrong and to be precise, a sin.
Seeing her silent, he understood that nobody believes him. Without uttering a single word he left from there and directly went to his room and locked it from inside. Fire of vexation and hatred was burning inside him. Now his own parents don't trust him, don't care about him. And on the top, sending him to a fucking prison, when he himself is a mafia leader.
On the other hand, Mayra stood up from her place. Tears were shedding from her eyes, but this time not because of what happened to her but because of his uncle's decision of sending him to a prison.
Her heart clings to the belief that he would never have sold her to a brothel. She vividly recalls the way his eyes softened with genuine concern as he pulled her from the grasp of those monstrous figures. In that moment, she felt a warmth that seemed to dispel the chilling fear surrounding her. It couldn't possibly be a lie! Deep down, she knows with unwavering certainty that he is not the one to blame. The loyalty of her heart speaks volumes, whispering truths that her mind struggles to accept.
"Uncle, please, I beg you-don't do this. Don't send him to prison. He was the one who saved me from those terrifying monsters who were intent on hurting me. I truly believe he is innocent- and he isn't guilty to be punished. He's not a bad person; his heart is really very big . Even when he hates me so much, he still stepped in to protect me from harm.
I'm pleading with you to find a way to leave this situation, but please don't punish him for something he didn't do. I understand that it is bold of me to question your decision, but I can't help but to plead you, from the depths of my heart-please, don't let him suffer for his kindness. It wouldn't be right. Send me away from here- but don't punish your own son. I don't want him to hate his own parents. Please consider my plea!" She pleaded with tear-filled eyes. Both Ved and Zia's heart went numb hearing her.
How can someone be so selfless and pure? How can her heart be so beautiful? She endured so much because of him and after all this she's defending him. She's really a very kind-hearted soul. Ved's gaze softened and his eyes became glossy.
Pulling her into a gentle hug, he caged her warmly. He pecked the top of her head and closed his eyes. How could his son even think about hurting her? When a heartless person would want to cherish her innocent soul.
He pulled back a bit. Mayra saw that drop of tear rolling down from his eyes which hurted her hurt. Lifting her hand, she wiped away his tears with her tiny fingers.
"Please forgive him uncle." She requested while joining her hands infront of him.
"Fine, i won't give him punishment if i would see remorse in him after what he had tried to do with you, tomorrow in the morning."
A hope flickered inside her hearting hearing her uncle Ved. Zia also smiled lightly hearing him.
"Okay, now let's go for dinner." He said this and they went downstairs to have their dinner.
